What is VGT?

Vanguard Information Technology ETF (VGT) tracks the MSCI US IMI Information Technology 25/50 Index, providing broad exposure to U.S. technology companies across all market capitalizations. Unlike XLK which holds only S&P 500 tech stocks, VGT includes mid and small-cap tech companies.

VGT includes 316 tech stocks vs XLK's 65, offering more diversification within the tech sector. QQQ is different entirely as it tracks non-financial Nasdaq-100 companies including consumer and healthcare stocks.
