We do not publish a target for Gold, and the track record of published metal forecasts is poor enough that we would treat any confident number with suspicion. What can be described is the machinery that actually sets the price.

Real interest rates. When inflation-adjusted yields fall, the cost of holding a non-yielding asset falls with them, and metal demand typically strengthens. When real yields rise, the opposite applies.

The dollar. Gold is priced in dollars globally, so a stronger dollar mechanically raises the price for buyers in every other currency and tends to suppress demand.

Official-sector demand. Central-bank purchases have been a meaningful marginal buyer in recent years — a policy decision rather than a market one, and not something a price model anticipates.

Our data shows Gold at $4,546.40 per troy ounce.

Worth separating two questions that get conflated. "Where will the price be in twelve months" is close to unanswerable. "What role does this metal play in a portfolio" is answerable, and more useful.

Historically the case for a modest allocation has rested on low correlation with equities during currency and geopolitical stress — not on expected return. Sized as insurance, it does not need a forecast to be worth holding.

Its 52-week range is 3,310.10 to 5,586.20, putting the current level about 54.3% of the way up that band.
